2008

  • January: Conference in Ankara about the project implementation with UMT representatives and mayors and experts of the Turkish project municipalities.

  • February – March: Fourth round of partnership meetings in Turkish or Swedish partner regions

  • April: Newsletter 3 published.

  • April: Monitoring visits by the project management to Osmaniye, Tarsus, Manisa, Karsiyaka and Bornova.   

  • May: Progress Report to Sida. Methodology workshops for the Swedish partnership coordinators.

  • May-June: Fifth round of partnership meetings in Swedish or Turkish partner regions.

  • June: Steering Committee meeting in Ankara.

  • September: Monitoring visits by the project management to all Swedish partner municipalities and to SALAR.

  • September: First round of workshops in Kalmar for representatives of Bornova, Karsiyaka and Manisa about the concept of time travels – a special project emanating from tusenet and financed by the Sida Municipal Partnership Programme.

  • September - October: Sixth round of partnership meetings in Turkish or Swedish partner regions.

  • October: Study visit to organisations in Brussels for a UMT-SALA IDA delegation.

  • October: Workshop in Ankara for the UMT-SALAR partnership about producing a web-based training material for newly elected Turkish local politicians about “The track into politics”.

  • October: Kick off conference in Osmangazi of a EU-funded project (about participatory budgeting) emanating from tusenet – the Tusepart project (Umeå-Central Turkey partnership).

  • November: Second round of workshops in Karsiyaka, Bornova and Manisa about the time travel concept.

  • November: Thematic workshops in Ankara for all Turkish project partners: The Swedish Public Administration system, Gender study of the administrations in the 23 Turkish project municipalities, Sustainable cities, cluster and arena building.

  • November: Monitoring visits by the project management to Antalya and Mugla.

  • November: Tusepart study visit and workshops in Umeå: Taxation system, role of the political parties in the budget process.

  • November: Tusepart training course in Bursa: Participatory budgeting, project cycle management.

  • November – December: Meetings in Turkey for five of the six municipal partnerships.

  • November – December: Mid Term Review of tusenet carried out by an independent evaluator.

  • December: Mid Term Conference in Amasya for all project partners and invited representatives of Swedish and Turkish state authorities (Powerpoint presentations from the Mid Term Conference in Amasya).

  • Running contacts and meetings between representatives of each partnership.

  • Running contacts and several meetings between the Swedish project management and municipal coordinators.

  • Running contacts between the Turkish project management and municipal coordinators.

     

 

2007

  • Partner preparation seminars in Sweden and Turkey  (January).

  • Kick-off  conference in Antalya, Turkey, for all partners (February).

  • Inception  report to Sida (April).

  • First  partnerships meetings in the Turkish partner regions and sum up conference in  Istanbul (end of May).

  • Second  partnerships meetings in the Swedish municipalities/regions and sum up meeting  in Stockholm (end of August).

  • Third partnerships meetings, developing  activity plans for 2008, in the Turkish partner regions (October-November).

  • A UMT  delegation visiting the SALAR Congress for study reasons (November).

  • Monitoring  visits to eight of the participating Turkish municipalities by the project  managers of SALA IDA and UMT  (end of November).

  • Running contacts between representatives  of each partnership.

 


2006

  • Finalising the project set up. Agreement between SALA IDA and UMT of responsibilities for project implementation.
